The Firm has an established Regulatory Practice with the Firm’s Partners appearing before the various State Electricity Regulatory Commissions, Central Electricity Regulatory Commission as well as the Appellate Tribunal and Supreme Court, having appeared in numerous landmark and reported decisions.

The Firm has handled matters and assignments in all spheres including tariff petitions for generating, transmission and distribution licensees, licensing requirements and compliances, proceedings for grant of licenses, transfer schemes for unbundling of electricity utilities under the Electricity Act, advising power exchanges and other online platforms in electricity trading, proceedings before regulatory commissions, civil courts and also arbitral tribunals for dispute resolution under agreements, drafting transactional documents such as Power Purchase Agreements including transborder power purchases, Transmission Service Arrangements, Trading Agreements, EPC Contracts etc.

Our clients include thermal generators in the public and private sectors including the largest thermal generator in India, distribution licensees of at least 10 States and Union Territories in the country, the Central Transmission Utility and the largest transmission licensee in India and also various State Transmission Utilities, renewable energy generators in all spheres including solar, wind, biomass, hydro, hybrid plants, biogas and waste to energy plants. The Firm also advises and represents on a regular basis various Regulators in the country.
